Gorsium-Herculia Archaeological Park and Outdoor Museum
The archaeological park, which once upon a time was a roman village, with it’s mediterranean feeling, in a matter of seconds can take you back to the past.
The Roman city, which was built in the II. century, was the seat of the province of Lower Pannonia and the centre of the emperor’s cult. The roman metropolis was so huge that only 7% of it could be revealed until today. The visitor can take part in a time travel to the past, as the centuries past more and more buildings were added: The archaeologists found a feast room, a port, christening basilica and swimming pool, later even a soldier barracks.
The renovated park with a visitor centre, welcomes visitors all year round.
